Himalayan International Tours (DBA Himalayan Wonderlands, Inc.) was founded in 1976 when we opened our first office at 152 west 42nd. Street in the Times Square area of New York City. Our beginning was humble as we specialized Northern regions of India, especially Kashmir and Ladakh along with Golden Triangle areas of Delhi, Agra and Jaipur. Since we were the only agency in the area specializing in Himalayas, word spread about our unique offerings and soon we were busy booking a lot of travelers to India and the Himalayas. Our company was known as Himalayan Wonderlands. We were featured by Arthur Frommer in those days print publication titled "Wonderful world of Budget Travel', followed by invitation to appear on Travel Channel TV show. With a study growth we added more destination in India like the South, Central and Western areas along with Nepal. Soon Bhutan decided to open its doors to western tourists and we were there to book our hearty travelers and then came along Tibet. In 1986 as we added more destinations to our portfolio, Himalayan International Tours was born to represent the new capacity of the company.
In our 45 successful years of operation in New York, Himalayan Int'l Tours has grown to a major operation in providing travel services worldwide in general and India and South Asia. Our travel partners include major hotel and airline groups. Himalayan International Tours besides specializing in travel to India, Nepal, Bhutan, Tibet, Kashmir, has added to its list such destinations as Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia with network of affiliate offices in major cities of Delhi, Srinagar, Kathmandu, Bangkok, Bhutan and Lhasa staffed with certified tourism professionals. Himalayan International Tours has been featured on television, in magazines and publications including the New York Times and Sunset Magazine. Himalayan International Tours and its affiliates are members of Pacific Area Travel Association (PATA) and licensed by ARC (Airlines Reporting Corp.) and IATA, giving access and authority to issue guaranteed bookings to worldwide hotel, car rental, cruise bookings and to all airlines. Himalayan Wonderlands Inc. DBA Himalayan International Tours is incorporated in the State of New York.
